Major species:
Beech: Belongs to the Fagaceae family. His wood is compact and heavy that’s why it is a good fuel, with quick burning. Has a smooth and gray cortex. |
Oak: Belongs to the Fagaceae family. His wood is heavy and burns slowly. It has a stronger resistance than the beech and produces embers. his cortex is grey , furrowed and cracked.

Hornbeam: Belongs to the Betulaceae family. His wood burns slowly and gives a very good quality coal. Has a smooth and gray cortex. |
Acacia: Belongs to the Fabaceae family. It has a heavy wood, and is appropriate to combustion. It can be recognised by his yellowish colour. Doesn’t maintain the embers for a longtime. His cortex is thick and cracked. |
